CORE RACES

Although there are without question a diverse multitude of races who inhabit Dark Earth, with the launch of Moss, Stone & Steel begins the availability of four key races that can be played. More information on each of these races can be found in the Core Book.

Humans are the dominant sentient life-form in the known world, displaying a wide variety of adaptability and curiosity that has driven the world to it’s potential future. Their fortitude through countless struggles has thus predominantly shaped the world of Dark Earth to what it is now. Even so, however, they do not inhabit this world alone..

Arctani are a grey skinned, brass blooded race from the bottom lands of Dark Earth. They are a thin, nimble people who can withstand harsh cold environments, and a race who understand and more openly use magic, which they call “The Power” and believe it is a divine gift to the world, not a profane curse.

Gnomes are a diminutive faerie life-form, comfortable to adapting with human society, as well as retaining their racial belief that they are the protectors and preservers of the world’s nature. They mostly dwell in isolated, rural areas, such as burrows or glades. Some, however, have underground colonies within The Republic, called the Understates.

Sodians are a strong, horned people from the bloody, fiery realm of Vulcanys, at the equator. They are predominantly a tribal people who relish battle and conquest. Though they have a horned, fiendish element to them, they are actually a people related somewhat to dragons. Indeed, their very society and culture (as primeval as it is) revolved around dragons.
